JOB TITLE: Lecturer in Economics
JOB DESCRIPTION:
This position requires teaching 7 courses per year consisting of a combination of Principles of Economics, Business and Economics Statistics and other electives and interdisciplinary courses offered in Elon’s Core Curriculum. This position will also be responsible for supervising undergraduate student research and advising students on academic or career matters.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
The minimum requirements for the position include a Ph.D. in Economics and at least 6 semesters (or approximately 24 months) of teaching as an Instructor-of-Record, including a semester each of Principles of Microeconomics, Principles of Macroeconomics, and Business and Economics Statistics. Candidates must also have experience mentoring undergraduate research, new course design and development, and Moodle or Canvas. Postsecondary coursework must include at least one of the following research topics: health economics, behavioral economics, or the economics of poverty and inequality. Postsecondary level coursework or professional experience must also include experience using R, Python, or STATA (or similar). This position also requires at least one publication in a peer reviewed journal within the past 5 years in the areas of either health economics, behavioral economics, or the economics of poverty and inequality. If the PhD was completed 5 or more years ago, candidates are required to have published at least 2 peer-reviewed journal articles and made at least one professional conference presentation in the areas of either health economics, behavioral economics, or the economics of poverty and inequality. Must clear a background check prior to hire.
SALARY: $70,000 per year.
