Position Summary

This position works under the direction of the Utilities Supervisors is responsible for the routine preventive maintenance for the trades of HVACR, plumbing and electrical.

Minimum Required Education and Experience

High school diploma or GED

Preferred Education and Experience

Vocational or technical training in a trade, preferably HVAC, Plumbing, or Electrical

Required Other Training, Certifications, or Licensing

Must possess a valid NC Driver’s License and be insurable by the university’s carrier

Job Duties

• The Utilities Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for the routine preventive maintenance of all university-maintained HVACR systems and equipment including, but not limited to filter replacement, belt replacement, and lube pump replacement. 
• The Utilities Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for the routine preventive maintenance of all university-maintained plumbing systems and equipment including, but not limited to the service of sinks, faucets, showers, tubs, and toilets.
• The Utilities Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for the routine preventive maintenance of all university-maintained electrical systems and equipment including, but not limited to bulb replacement and ballast replacement.
