Position Summary
The Program Assistant for the Departments of Computer Science & Engineering provides support to faculty, staff, and students within the two departments and coordinates day-to-day operations. This vital member of the Elon University School of Engineering & Computing interacts daily with students, faculty, and staff by providing clerical and office management support, by supervising student employees, and by providing written/oral communications to both internal and external audiences. The position also works closely with the Office of the Dean and other units across the University.
To be successful in this position, the Program Assistant must possess the following qualities:

• Willingness to learn new skills and programs
• Demonstrates good judgment and attention to detail
• Comfortable and confident working with students’ FERPA-protected information;
• Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively, as part of a team on multiple projects simultaneously
• Proficiency with Microsoft products such as Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams, also able to learn internal University platforms

Minimum Required Education and Experience
HS Diploma and 2-5 years of experience in an office setting
Preferred Education and Experience
Associate's Degree (AA) in a related field and/or experience in education support, non-profit administrative support, other related field, or a combination of education and experience
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
A successful candidate will show evidence of:
• Ability to prioritize work according to departmental needs, can determine workflow problems and develop solutions, and efficiently execute workflows
• Proficiency with computer technology and Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Teams, Word, and Excel
• Willingness/ability to learn new computer programs and software associated with administrative tasks at Elon
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Professional and courteous manner and an ability to work harmoniously with other staff, faculty, students and other constituents.
• Exceptional time management and organizational skills
• Sharp attention to detail with the ability to multitask
• Regular attendance and punctuality
• Ability to independently plan, organize, and carry out work assignments
• Appropriate discretion when handling information that is both sensitive and confidential in nature
