The Elon University Department of Physical Therapy Education School of Health Sciences, in Partnership with Cone Health Announces the availability of two full-time tenure-track positions at Associate or Assistant professor level to join a dynamic, private, in-person institution with a national model for actively engaging faculty and students in teaching and learning.
We invite applications for two full-time, tenure-track faculty positions at Associate or Assistant professor level. The department of 14 full-time and 6 part-time highly qualified, dynamic faculty is interested in recruiting individuals with demonstrated teaching and clinical experience, preferably in acute care, cardio-pulmonary, clinical reasoning, geriatric, and/or musculoskeletal physical therapy practice. The successful candidate will also have an ongoing scholarship agenda related to physical therapy practice, education, rehabilitation/movement science, biomechanics, and/or motor control. Additional responsibilities include academic advising; student mentoring; and department, school, and university service. The successful candidate will have effective interpersonal and communication skills, as well as a commitment to graduate education and professional growth.

About the School of Health Sciences:
The School of Health Sciences was established in 2011 and includes graduate programs in Physical Therapy and Physician Assistant Studies in addition to the four-year Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing. The school and its programs are dedicated to innovative educational programming, engaged and distinctive healthcare education, an inclusive and supportive community for working and learning, regional health partnerships, and life-long learning and professional development.
The School of Health Sciences is located in the LEED-certified Gerald L. Francis Center, a state-of-the-art teaching and research facility. Faculty, staff, and students in all programs collaborate on innovative research initiatives in interdisciplinary laboratories, including the biomechanics lab. Our Interprofessional Simulation Center is a hub of experiential learning, allowing students to hone their skills in providing individualized care at the bedside, in the clinic, in the home, and in the community.
About the Department of Physical Therapy Education:
The Department of Physical Therapy Education (DPTE) enjoys a strong collaborative partnership with nearby Cone Health-Alamance Regional Medical Center. The Department includes an accredited Sports Physical Therapy Residency with a Division 1 athletic setting, opportunities for global learning, and a dedicated student research coordinator. The DPTE occupies approximately 32,000 square feet with equipment for teaching and research, such as MSK ultrasound, DEXA scanner, strength and balance measuring systems, a markerless 3D motion capture system which includes 12 cameras and a 16-channel wireless EMG system, two force plates for gait analysis, a Woodway Pro-Treadmill, instrumented walkways, a body-weight support rehabilitation system, and a Galileo whole-body vibration training device.
The DPTE houses the Health Outreach Program of Elon (HOPE Clinic). Serving patients since 2013, the HOPE Clinic is a student-managed pro-bono clinic offering free physical therapy services to those who are uninsured or under-insured in Alamance County and surrounding areas.
