Position Summary

The Head Coach for Men’s Club Lacrosse is a member of the Campus Recreation staff in the Division of Student Life and serves as the primary coach and leader for the program. Club sports teams at Elon are student organizations, run by student leaders who manage many aspects of organization operations. Club sports programs promote student development, engaging co-curricular experiences, high-level athletic competition, and positive representation of the university. As part of a broader initiative to advance club sports at the university, the Men's Club Lacrosse Head Coach will serve as the team coach, coordinate administrative aspects of program operations, work closely with Admissions to recruit student athletes (in coordination with Admissions), and achieve important fundraising goals (in coordination with University Advancement). This position requires evening and weekend work.

Minimum Required Education and Experience

Requires rules knowledge and regulations of league and requirements.
Previous experience as a player or coach.

Job Duties

• Coaching
  • Manage and supervise sport activities, contests, and practice sessions to promote individual growth in athletic skills, teamwork, and good sportsmanship.
  • Use a variety of instructional techniques and media to meet the needs and improve the abilities of student athletes in the sport assigned.
  • Work with the members of the club to plan and put in place instructional goals and objectives to ensure the overall development of student athletes whose abilities range from beginner to experienced.
• Administrative
  • Responsible for coordinating home and away competitions as well as tournaments.
  • Communication with constituents, parents/alumni, athletic trainer, club sports department, and vendors to ensure team is well supported.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Assistant Director for Competitive Sports.
• Recruiting and Fundraising
  • Partner with Admissions to recruit student athletes and meet established targets for team size.
  • Assist the team in fundraising efforts throughout the year, in coordination with University Advancement.
