Position Summary

The Associate Head Men's Soccer Coach is responsible for specifically designated aspects of the men's soccer program, exercises independent judgment in providing technical expertise in the fundamentals of the sport, teaching student-athletes basic and advanced skills, and assisting the Head Men's Soccer Coach in management of the team through recruiting, program development, fund-raising, promotional activities, and related assigned responsibilities. Minimum Required Education and Experience

Bachelor's Degree Required. 1-3 years of collegiate coaching experience.

Preferred Education and Experience

Coaching experience in a NCAA Division I level program is preferred. Master's Degree Preferred.

Job Duties

  • Assumes responsibility for a particular aspect of the men's soccer program as assigned by the Head Coach, planning short and long terms objectives under the leadership of the head coach, demonstrating technical expertise in the basics of the sport, and teaching the fundamentals and advanced level skills and game strategies to student-athletes.
  • Protects the integrity of the men's soccer program and the reputation of the intercollegiate athletics program of the University by ensuring that recruiting activities, student-athlete eligibility determination, scholarships and financial aid programs, scheduled practice sessions, and related activities governed by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) are in compliance with NCAA rules and regulations as well as applicable conference rules and University policies.
  • Assists the Head Men's Soccer Coach with budgetary oversight and management of financial aid and scholarship issues for members of the team and also represents the Head Men's Soccer Coach when necessary, in official capacity.
  • Reduces the likelihood of sports-related injuries or the aggravation of such injuries during practice sessions and scheduled contests by being knowledgeable of the injuries sustained in the sport and proper prevention methods, supervising appropriate pre-training session and pre-contest preparations and warm ups, and referring injured student-athletes to qualified sports medicine personnel or athletic trainers.
  • Promotes a positive image of the intercollegiate athletics program and the University through participation in community and professional organizations, representing the University at professional meetings as required, promoting participation in community service activities by student athletes, and supporting established athletic fund-raising goals by actively participating in fund-raising events and promotional activities for intercollegiate athletics, assists in the formulation of team and department fundraising activities, as directed by the Head Coach and the Director of Athletics
  • Contributes to the overall success of the University's intercollegiate athletics program by performing all other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Head Men's Soccer Coach.
