Position Summary

The Assistant Director of Annual Giving & Leadership Giving Officer (LGO) is a key position in the Office of Annual Giving responsible for developing relationships with Elon alumni, working to ultimately solicit and close leadership annual gifts to meet the university’s key priorities. The Assistant Director & LGO is additionally responsible for the supervision of at least one coordinator of annual giving focused on portfolio engagement. They work with the Director and other leadership to develop and execute new giving initiatives and lead all aspects of the 50th Golden Alumni reunion.

Minimum Required Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree required. Must have a minimum of three years related experience and/or training in fundraising or volunteer management.

Preferred Education and Experience

Masters degree preferred

 

Job Duties

  • Fundraising: -Executes a strategic approach to identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit, and steward our alumni as partners, advocates, and investors. Directly manage a portfolio of 200+ alumni by encouraging them to stay connected, informed and involved; recruiting and expanding Elon’s professional network; and encouraging Elon Society level annual gifts ($1,500 – $25,000) leadership annual giving. Annually develop a list of goals and objectives focused primarily on visits, leadership annual gifts, dollars raised, and other strategic activities. -As part of a team, this role contributes to the success of Elon University’s giving day, Elon Day, and a diverse set of annual giving solicitation efforts through the management of reunion volunteers, direct outreach, preparation of multi-channel communications and other duties as assigned. -Assist with strategy and implementation related to growing and increasing the membership of the Elon Society and intentional portfolio/moves management -Partner with divisional leaders to implement planned giving solicitations as part of the 50th reunion and beyond
  • Operations: -Directly coordinate the 50th Golden Alumni class reunion. This includes identifying, recruiting, training and soliciting volunteers for the reunion committee, assisting committee with planning of celebratory events, overseeing marketing plan and timeline for reunion communications, implementing and executing reunion events in collaboration with Elon’s Office of Alumni Engagement. -Support Elon University events and projects (Move In, Commencement Week, etc.) and University Advancement events and projects (Homecoming & Reunion Weekend, regional events, Family Weekend, mailing/shipping fulfillment, etc.) -Utilize technology that includes Raisers Edge, Elon’s internal database, to run queries and exports to support reunions, annual giving fundraising initiatives, prospect management, etc. Create and maintain system of necessary reports and records on various alumni fundraising initiatives, reunion giving, and other annual giving fundraising initiatives as needed.
  • Communications and Engagement -Connect with alumni prospects based on Advancement and University priorities through email, social media, mailings, phone calls, and face to face meetings either at Elon or alumni cities of work and/or residence -Maintain regular contact with reunion volunteers. Provide exceptional resources for alumni volunteers involved in outreach and respond promptly to all inquiries regarding giving campaigns or class reunions. Coordinate conference calls and/or on-site meetings as needed. -Support the comprehensive communications timeline for the reunion program in conjunction with colleagues in Annual Giving, Alumni Engagement and Advancement Communications. Lead preparation of deliverables, emails, web pages, social media, and designs for the 50th reunion -Provide exceptional customer service to our constituents acting with the greatest amount of professionalism and expressing the highest sense of urgency.
  • Management and Budget -Lead, manage and motivate coordinator of annual giving focused on reunions and alumni portfolio engagement. Assist and results analysis -Contribute to management of Annual Giving budget, tracking expenses and reporting on ROI of various activities.
