Position Summary

The Assistant Director of Presidential Stewardship will report to the Senior Director of Presidential Stewardship in University Advancement and will partner in the continued development of a stewardship program for principal gift donors and prospects involving the President. The Assistant Director’s primary focus will be on written stewardship, producing creative reports that celebrate significant milestones and communicate to donors the significant impact of endowed programs and scholarships, capital projects, and other university initiatives. In addition to a heavy focus on written stewardship, the Assistant Director will partner with the Senior Director on a variety of stewardship events and annual initiatives ranging from donor engagement events at the Wyndham Championship, Evening for Elon events, building dedications, to annual stewardship touchpoints for Elon Day match donors and holiday gifts.

Minimum Required Education and Experience

A bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, or hospitality preferred.

Preferred Education and Experience

3-5 years of professional experience, in a university setting, with experience writing for University Advancement and/or University Communications. Experience in event planning and donor relations preferred.

Required Other Training, Certifications, or Licensing

Proficiency in the following systems preferred: Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), Raiser's Edge, Zoom.

Job Duties

  • Research, write, and edit meaningful copy for donor impact reports in celebration of significant milestones, partnering with University Communications in developing templates and the final design of these reports. 
  • Create relationships with students, staff and faculty across campus in order to facilitate interviews and information-gathering in preparation for writing donor impact reports and other written stewardship. 
  • n partnership with the Senior Director of Presidential Stewardship, develop and implement appropriate donor benefits and recognition programs for principal gift donors. 
  • Organize annual touchpoints for varying levels of major gift donors and prospects. 
  • In partnership with the Senior Director of Presidential Stewardship, oversee select events related to stewardship of major gift donors and prospects or as requested by the Senior Vice President for Advancement or the Associate Vice President for Advancement. 
  • In partnership with the Senior Director of Presidential Stewardship, Coordinate the development and distribution of select special occasion gifts and acknowledgments from the President, Vice President, and Associate Vice President to key prospects and donors. 
  • Provide support to the Senior Director of Presidential Stewardship in the management of Presidential councils. 
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
