Elon University’s Department of Sport Management in the School of Communications invites applications for an adjunct faculty member to teach Sport Sales and Promotion in the Study USA Charlotte program: The Sport and Community Experience in Fall 2026 (August – December, 2026). We are seeking an accomplished sport business professional to bring real-world sales expertise into the classroom.

Charlotte is one of the fastest-growing sport business hubs in the country, hosting over 220 days of live sporting events annually. Home to the Charlotte Hornets, Carolina Panthers, Charlotte FC, NASCAR, and the ACC, the city provides an ideal environment for students pursuing careers in sport business, particularly in ticket sales, sponsorship, and fan engagement. This course prepares students to utilize ethical and effective persuasive techniques across a variety of sport job forms and functions. Students learn best practices for sales scenarios ranging from ticket sales to sponsorships; proven strategies for sales management and training; and how to successfully promote sport products across paid, owned, and earned media. The ideal instructor will draw on active or recent experience in ticket sales, sponsorship, or revenue generation to bring real-world application to the curriculum.

Key Responsibilities

  • Teach Sport Sales and Promotion with a strong emphasis on applied sales skills and revenue generation
  • Integrate current industry practices, tools, and trends into coursework
  • Incorporate experiential learning, including industry projects, guest speakers, and site visits
  • Provide feedback on student sales presentations, writing, and professional development
  • Facilitate networking opportunities between students and Charlotte-area sport industry contacts.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Master’s degree in sport management, business, marketing, or related field
  • Professional experience in sport sales, sponsorship, ticketing, or promotion
  • Commitment to student-centered, experiential teaching

Preferred:

  • This course is best taught by someone currently working in the sport sales industry.
  • Experience with CRM platforms (e.g., Salesforce, KORE, Archtics)
  • Teaching or training experience
  • Familiarity with the Charlotte sports landscape

Program & Location

This position is part of Elon University’s Study USA Charlotte: The Sport and Community Experience, an immersive program where students live, intern, and engage directly with the sport industry .

The custodian position is responsible for helping maintain a clean and safe environment of all inside spaces which include Residential housing, Academic buildings, Athletic facilities, Student centers and dining locations for Elon University Campus. This includes, but not limited to, maintain and cleaning equipment, the cleaning and sanitizing of bathrooms, vacuuming floors, and removing all trash from the premises, cleaning of biohazards and high touch areas. Custodians are also responsible for monitoring special events and athletic games across campus making sure areas are clean and sanitized during events.
