Position Summary
Elon University invites applications for an Assistant Teaching Professor position in Human Service Studies beginning mid-August 2026. Candidates must hold a master’s degree or an earned doctorate in a human service related discipline (i.e. Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, Rehabilitation Counseling, Criminal Justice etc.) and demonstrate effectiveness in teaching. Ideal candidates will also bring experience working with one or more of the following: children and youth; LGBTQIA+ communities; and/or macro practice (e.g., community organizing, policy, administration). Candidates should have the ability to teach broadly within the major and to supervise student field placements. Faculty also teach courses in Elon’s Core Curriculum and community-based learning courses. Additional responsibilities include student mentorship through advising and contributions to the life of the department, university, and discipline or profession.
