Position Summary

Elon University’s Biology Department seeks a molecular biologist to join a dynamic faculty committed to providing an exceptional undergraduate education. The tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level will begin in August 2026. A Ph.D. in a biological science is required, along with a commitment to excellence in teaching and scholarship. Teaching responsibilities will include courses such as genetics lecture and laboratory, introductory cell biology lecture and laboratory, and other courses in the Biology department (ability to teach toxicology preferred) and Elon’s Core Curriculum. The successful candidate will be a broadly-trained molecular biologist with expertise in the areas of molecular genetics and cell biology. They will also be required to establish a research program, in their area of expertise (preference for cell or molecular research program with non-mammalian model organisms), that actively includes mentoring undergraduate researchers. Research that includes collaboration with other disciplines is encouraged. Curricular advising as well as service to the department and university is also expected.
