Position Summary

The Assistant Athletic Director for Development will play a critical role in helping the athletic department meet all fundraising goals including specific unrestricted and sport-specific targets. This position will help to lead the strategy and development of enhanced annual, leadership annual, and major giving efforts that align with the fundraising goal and priorities within the Phoenix Rising strategic plan. Further, this position could include oversight of annual giving, stewardship, general engagement, communications, and stewardship efforts. This position will play a critical role in helping the athletics development team hit and exceed annual and long-term fundraising objectives including cash and pledge production goals, donor acquisition and retention targets, implementation of new engagement and revenue generation opportunities, cultivation of former student-athlete and student-athlete parent constituencies, and more.

Minimum Required Education and Experience

Bachelor's Degree required. 2-4 years of related fundraising, sales, operations management, or sport management experience.

Preferred Education and Experience

Master's Degree preferred.

 

Job Duties

  • Provide strategic direction and oversight of all annual giving efforts; direct all aspects of annual giving for athletics. Oversee strategic coordination of annual giving, development, donor communications, ticket sales and more.
  • Help to plan, implement, and lead all engagement opportunities for the Phoenix Club and Elon Athletics to include, but not limited to:
    • Night of the Phoenix
    • Donor stewardship events
    • Road tailgates and pregame socials
    • Championship receptions
    • Thank-a-Thon
    • Sport-specific alumni reunions
    • Sport-specific fundraising management with coaches and assigned sport programs, including men’s and women’s basketball.
  • Fundraising cultivation, solicitation, stewardship, and strategic engagement.
  • Former Student Athlete Engagement. Work with the Assistant Director for Development on developing and executing an engagement and solicitation plan to reach the annual Former Student Athlete giving participation goal.
  • Manage and provide direction to annual fund operation and stewardship needs.
  • Contributes to the overall success of the University's intercollegiate athletics program by performing all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
  • Complies with all University and CAA regulations, as well as all NCAA rules and regulations. Remains current with all changes in NCAA, as well as changes to University and CAA rules and regulations regarding intercollegiate athletics. This includes the requirement for self-reporting any possible rule violations and participation in the annual NCAA continuing education programs including passing the NCAA certification test, if applicable. Any violation of NCAA rules is prohibited.
