The Assistant Director of Academic-Residential Partnerships for Dining Engagement provides visible and strategic leadership to collaboration between Student Life, Academic Affairs, and Elon Dining to achieve the university’s goal for engaging students, faculty, and staff with each other through dining experiences.

This position will serve as a resource for faculty, staff and students to support events, facilitate partnerships involving unique dining experiences, identify opportunities to create dining-initiated events that enhance campus programs, and coordinate signature experiences.
The Assistant Director must be an energetic, highly motivated, thoughtful, dependable individual with strong interpersonal and organizational skills that reflect a strong customer service focus. This position interacts with all members of the university community.

Minimum Required Education and Experience

Completed Bachelor’s degree and 2-3 years of experience required.

Preferred Education and Experience

Master’s degree with 1-2 years of experience is preferred. Experience with event planning, particularly on a college/university campus preferred.

Job Duties

  • Collaboration & Marketing · Maintain strong relationships and facilitate regular meetings with administrative and academic departments that contribute to the residential and campus community. Develop connections in all university administration units. · Serve as a resource for faculty and staff members to support event planning and creating linkages between Elon Dining and academic/administrative units. · Solicit and support student-initiated ideas and activities that enhance intellectual climate and contribute to the integration of academic, residential, and social aspects of student life. · Partner with Elon Dining to market dining-initiated programming. · Collaborate with Elon Dining to develop a shared definition, mission and goals for dining engagement that support the residential neighborhood experience, academic and campus initiatives. · Work with the Elon Dining Guest Experience Manager to market “What is Elon Dining Engagement” to the Elon Community to showcase the unique benefits and opportunities of this work. · Maintain departmental websites and social media applications which should include a catalogue of collaborative programming. 
  • Programming · Create engaging programs connecting students to dining related priorities that include nutritional health and wellbeing, sustainability, engaging difference, food preparation through diverse cooking platforms, farming and food science. · Identify and implement experiences to create dining-initiated events or cross programming opportunities that enhance cultural programs; student life; the residential campus; diversity, equity and inclusion efforts; HealthEU; academic majors/minors; global education; and other university programs and initiatives. · Promote, monitor and assess student, faculty, and staff usage of the “Take a Student to Lunch” and “Student Initiated Dining Engagement (SIDE) Swipes” programs as vehicles for building meaningful relationships. · Coordinate and ensure a robust programming schedule for Life Around the Table and residential dining long tables. · Coordinate the College Coffee program. · Identify/assist in creation of calendar for Elon Dining specifically related to HealthEU programming. 
  • Financial and Office Management · Develop and monitor annual goals and measures of success for integrating dining, residential, and academic experiences. · Allocate and monitor use of meal plans for faculty and staff serving in key roles with the residential neighborhoods (community directors, faculty directors, faculty-in-residence, graduate assistants, Living Learning Community (LLC) advisors, linked course instructors, etc.). · Prepare documents and reports for projects, metrics, meetings and committee reports. · Maintain and track budgets for programmatic events (TASTL, SIDES, College Coffee, etc.). 
  • Advisory Role · Serve as a member of the Residential Campus Advisory Committee. · Attend Elon Dining Student Advisory Board meetings. · Participate upon invitation in meetings of various campus committees that contribute to intellectual climate and the residential campus initiative, including neighborhood associations, Student Life meetings, joint Deans council, academic affairs council, dining advisory committee, common reading committee, and others. · Collaborate with the Assistant Vice President for Student Life and Dean of Campus Life, Director of Academic-Residential Partnerships, Assistant Vice President of Auxiliary Services, and Resident District Manager for Elon Dining on strategic planning initiatives.
  • OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES: · Be available for occasional weekend or evening work related to student programs and events · Must have a valid North Carolina driver’s license and be insurable by the University’s carrier. Following a conditional offer of employment, Elon conducts motor vehicle record checks on all job applicants who are required to drive a university vehicle as an essential function of their job. Thereafter, a random motor vehicle record check will be conducted annually. Employment is contingent upon successfully passing a motor vehicle record check · Other duties assigned by the Assistant Vice President for Student Life and Dean of Campus Life, Director of Academic-Residential Partnerships, Assistant Vice President of Auxiliary Services, Resident District Manager for Elon Dining.
