Position Summary

The Center for Access and Success (CAS) is seeking a committed and experienced Well-Being Specialist to offer intentional support for underrepresented PK-12 students and their families, as well as college-aged students enrolled in academically rigorous programs. This position requires expertise in working with the holistic well-being of students from diverse populations and developing innovative programs connected to the community, emotional, financial, physical, purpose, social, and mental well-being dimensions. Reporting to the Director of the Elon Academy, approximately 80% of the work will be for the Elon Academy (EA) program with 20% of the work for the Odyssey Program, First Generation Student Support Services, It Takes a Village, and Beyond 12 programs, collectively. This position will be a two-year time-limited role (through May 2027) and may be continued dependent on available funding.

Minimum Required Education and Experience

· Master's degree in counseling, education, or another student success-related field

· Prior experience in area(s) of college access; college success; college advising; college admissions; student instruction, mentorship and advising; and/or other educational nonprofits

· Strong interpersonal, public speaking, communication, and writing skills

· Demonstrated commitment to promoting educational equity for underrepresented students

Preferred Education and Experience

· 3 years of experience working to support the holistic well-being of students and their families

· Experience in and knowledge of Alamance County, NC; the Alamance-Burlington School System; and NC public and private universities and colleges

· Spanish fluency is highly desired – conversation speaking and writing/translating

Job Duties

  • Well-Being Coaching & Individual Student Support 
    • Facilitate well-being coaching, provide individual support, and serve as a resource and referral agent to students experiencing challenges impeding their success, causing stress and anxiety, and navigating life transitions 
    • Build relationships with students and their families, while being an active presence in programs that are offered in the summer, weekends, and in the evenings 
    • Collaborate with members of the Team to serve as a consult on student well-being, provide ongoing individual student support, and share insight for future programmatic efforts 
  • Well-Being Program Development 
    • Design and implement programs and curriculum, in collaboration with the EA Team and CAS staff, to support student and their families in alignment with HeathyEU initiatives 
    • Build partnerships and collaborate with campus and community partners to facilitate impactful well-being programs 
    • Provide holistic well-being support to their families, in partnership with Elon Academy team members, by developing comprehensive annual programs designed to educate and empower Scholars’ family members as they support their Scholars throughout the program 
    • Partner with Elon Academy team members to provide holistic well-being support to the student leaders who directly serve and support the Scholars 
    • Lead assessment efforts and gain data-driven insights; continuously improving and refining well-being initiatives to provide excellent well-being support
  • Additional Responsibilities 
    • Collaborate with the Elon Academy Team and Center for Access and Success staff members 
    • Attend and present at professional forums and conferences regionally and nationally as appropriate 
    • Stay informed of changing policies, challenges, and opportunities for underserved populations 
    • Develop a strong network with the Alamance-Burlington School System (ABSS), the University, and community agencies in support of well-being initiatives within the Center for Access & Success 
    • Perform other duties as assigned
