Position Summary

Come work for the #1 institution in study abroad in the U.S.! Reporting to the Executive Director for Global Programming, this 12-month, full-time position oversees operations for 35+ short-term, faculty-led global engagement programs serving over 700 students each year. The Director manages the Shot-term Programs team, including one full-time Coordinator of Short-term Programs.

Minimum Required Education and Experience

Master's required, with a preference of 3-5 years of professional employment in a higher education setting.

Job Duties

  • Management 
    • Supervise one full-time employee, the Coordinator of Short-term Programs
    • Manage Short-Term Programs team: – facilitating team meetings, organizing and assigning work tasks, monitoring progress, creating and enforcing policies, and resolving problems 
    • Supervision of all short-term, faculty-led programs and direct management of a portion of those programs, including 35+ GEC programs with 700+ students in a 3-week period. 
    • Administer and monitor program budgets · Compose and maintain all short-term program communications, documentation, and website content 
    • Engage and collaborate with diverse stakeholders including faculty, parents, students, administration, government personnel, vendors, and service providers 
    • Create and execute pre-departure and re-entry presentations and group sessions 
    • Execute risk management and on-call duty during program term 
    • Facilitate trainings and professional development opportunities for the 80+ faculty leaders and campus partners 
    • Support the Assistant Dean of Global Education with academic catalog data entry, program assessment, syllabus collection and staffing of global engagement courses; collaborate with faculty on course proposals 
    • Assist with academic advising and orientation for outbound dual-degree business program students 
  • Diversity and Inclusion Initiatives 
    • Collaborate with units within the Inclusive Community to create policies and trainings to support a diverse group of student participants and faculty leaders 
    • Assist in pursuing Elon University’s strategic goal on 100% access to global engagement: optimizing student inclusion through the development and improvement of enrollment criteria and processes; orchestrating accommodations for students with varying physical and mental needs; and attending trainings and forums on equity, diversity, and inclusion 
  • Program Management: 
    • Manage a portfolio of global engagement programs, and serve as the liaison between the Global Education Center and provide partners within portfolio 
    • Facilitate one-on-one student advising and application review 
    • Conduct site-specific pre-departure orientations · Develop materials and procedures for global engagement courses 
    • Pursue professional development opportunities in support of my role and duties, in alignment with University goals, and in order to contribute to the field of international education 
    • Collaborate with others in the office on strategic planning for global engagement, issues of risk management, curriculum integration and all aspects of successful study abroad programming and work on other projects as assigned 
  • Other duties as assigned.
