Position Summary

The Simulation Coordinator provides comprehensive operational, technical, and educational support for simulation-based learning across the establishing programs on the Charlotte campus. This role supports a growing, technology-forward simulation center that includes six high-fidelity simulators (Elevate Health), full audiovisual capture capabilities, and additional technology as it adopted. Working collaboratively with SHS faculty, program leadership, and simulation leadership, the Simulation Coordinator ensures high-quality, compliant with Society for Simulation in Healthcare standards for simulation education, and learner-centered simulation experiences aligned with current Healthcare Simulation Standards of Best Practice.

Minimum Required Education and Experience

High school diploma or GED
Bachelor's degree - Field of study; health sciences, education, simulation technology, or related field.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Demonstrate ability to operate and troubleshoot simulation, AV, and instructional technologies. Strong organizational, communication, and collaboration skills.

Required Other Training, Certifications, or Licensing

1 year of experience supporting simulation-based education, clinical skills labs, or educational technology. Certification or formal training in healthcare simulation. Experience supporting PA, counseling, or interprofessional health professions programs. Familiarity with Society for Simulation in Healthcare standards and best practices.

Job Duties

  • Simulation Operations & Technology
    • Set up, operate, maintain, and troubleshoot high-fidelity simulators, task trainers, virtual reality and procedural trainers, and hospital-type clinical equipment.
    • Manage simulation-related AV/IT systems, including recording, playback, and data capture.
    • Prepare simulation spaces, including equipment, supplies, moulage, and room configuration.
    • Develop and maintain simulator checklists, troubleshooting guides, and preventive maintenance plans.
    • Coordinate with vendors to address technical issues, repairs, upgrades, and maintenance needs.
  • Educational & Programmatic Support
    • Collaborate with PA, CMHC, and SHS faculty to conduct simulation needs assessments and align activities with course and program outcomes.
    • Assist in the design, execution, and modification of simulation scenarios, including appropriate selection of simulation modalities.
    • Support development and training of Simulated Participants, ensuring accurate portrayal, clinical realism, and learner-centered feedback.
    • Support assessment activities, including development and implementation of evaluation tools and checklists.
  • Scheduling, Compliance & Reporting
    • Monitor scheduling and availability of simulation spaces, equipment, and technical resources; proactively identify and communicate conflicts.
    • Support adherence to IPSC and SHS policies and procedures and ensure alignment with Healthcare Simulation Standards of Best Practice.
    • Maintain documentation and reporting requirements, including annual reports and accrediting or professional organization submissions (e.g., Society for Simulation in Healthcare).
    • Maintain awareness of accreditation requirements relevant to supported programs.
  • Strategic Growth & Innovation
    • Stay informed of advancements in simulation and educational technology relevant to health professions education.
    • Conduct vendor scans and recommend equipment investments or upgrades to support program growth and innovation.
    • Support operational planning for expansion of simulation services as new SHS programs are added to the Charlotte campus.
    • Supports the planning and phased development of a Standardized Patient (SP) program, with responsibility for assisting in future SP recruitment, training, case preparation, and quality assurance as simulation activities and program needs expand.
