Position Summary

The Director of Compliance or Assistant Athletics Director for Compliance is responsible for ensuring that the University’s athletics programs adhere to all NCAA, conference, and institutional rules and policies. This position manages day-to-day compliance tasks and responsibilities, develops and implements rules education and staff training, monitors and enforces policies and procedures in compliance with NCAA rules. This position works closely with the Senior Associate Athletics Director for Internal Operations in the NCAA eligibility and certification processes, NIL landscape and submission of violations and waiver requests.

Minimum Required Education and Experience

Director of Compliance - Bachelor's Degree in any relevant field of study with minimum of 2 years of experience with an NCAA Division I compliance department.

Assistant Athletics Director for Compliance - Master’s degree and with a minimum of 3-5 years of experience with an NCAA Division I compliance department.

Preferred Education and Experience

Working knowledge of ARMS or other compliance software, CAi, LSDBi, and Eligibility Center is preferred.

Job Duties

  • Manage day-to-day responsibilities of NCAA compliance, including monitoring recruiting activities, eligibility, financial aid, amateurism, and adherence to playing and practice season rules. This includes providing timely interpretations of NCAA, conference and university rules to coaches and staff.
  • Develop and deliver comprehensive compliance education programs for student-athletes, coaches, staff members and university stakeholders to ensure understanding of NCAA and conference regulations. Methods of education include in-person meetings, presentations, publications, social media posts and infographics.
  • Monitor and maintain systems to track and verify NCAA and conference rules, including recruiting and CARA logs, playing and practice hour documentation, eligibility, NIL disclosures and booster engagement.
  • Contributes to a work environment that encourages knowledge of, respect for, and development of skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds.
  • Remains competent and current through self-directed professional reading, developing professional contacts with colleagues, attending professional development courses, and attending training and/or courses as directed by the Senior Associate Athletics Director for Internal Operations.
  • Contributes to the overall success of the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics by performing all other duties and responsibilities as assigned
